Out of Love

“The denial of ambitions and the denial of inspirations in our life are not a penalty and are not a punishment from God.

It’s God defining our path for our walk.” Dave Harvey.

This is a quote from a message on contentment by Dave Harvey. It has been a message that has been good for my soul to hear over and over again over the last two years! It has helped me view this time of waiting as God defining my path, not a punishment. May this encourage your soul that God is defining your path step by step everyday out of love.

. . .. . .. . .. . .

Wow. I no sooner finished typing an fb comment about contentment on a conversation on my wall that your post came up in my feed ;o) Defining our path can be a painful process, but HIS strength is sufficient when we can’t see the glorious purpose ;o) And sometimes if we have more people to commiserate with us rather than speak words of life, it can be harder to see that!

Blessing to you on your path and below is the comment I was posting if you wanted to see the connection to my own thoughts…….

“2.5 yrs ago Jacob proposed that we maybe live in a camper while we built a house. I was completely resistant and adamant that i wasn’t going to put that type of stress and unhappiness on my family by living in such a confined space. 6 months later we were living in one full-time with no house-building in sight>>>and I was completely CONTENT and EXCITED about it. The Lord has been so faithful in renewing my mind for all types of seasons and challenges we undertake, as my outlook of JOY isn’t dependent on any situation, but through HIS strength. I’ve learned over the past couple of years in our camper living and Israel traveling that I am NOT owed hot water, or refrigeration, or privacy, or a washing machine (not listed under those ‘unalienable rights’) These things are all luxuries and I want myself and my children to be thankful for the days that we DO have them :o) Sorry for you troubles Tova, but our camper living is amazing (especially now that our new one has a SLIDEOUT!!!!) and we’ve said we’ll never go back to living in a house again. We create our children’s realities and I want them to know that OUR REALITY is that God loves us and we have EVERYTHING we need ;o)

I love living with less. I love having my husband around more. I love having my babies close. I love being free to go where the Lord wants us. The end. ;o)

Thanks for sharing, Jamie.

Four of Twelve

I wrote all about our time spent together as a family this past Easter weekend and the time we enjoyed together. And hit published. At least I thought I hit published. It did not save what I wrote about lunch at my brother and sister in laws on Saturday, the home run derby wiffle ball game in their back yard, dying eggs, and a delicious dinner together. My cousins, parents and grandfather all joined us Saturday and then Lyndon’s mom and husband joined us on Sunday. I wrote about how again I’m thankful for the iPhone and facetime was it make the distance between us and my sister seem not so far.

I also went on to share how on the way home from church I texted everyone and asked them not to change until we took our  family photo. After a quick, well as quick as family photos can be, the afternoon was then spent enjoying our traditional grilled lamb dinner, Easter egg hunt, afternoon naps, and watching the end of the Masters! Our Easter egg hunt lasted over an hour as we searched for only sixteen eggs. There were seven adults looking and my house was completely torn apart! I mean every cabinet pulled out and left out for the next person to look through! Everyone did help put my house back to order in the end. I did not win this year, like I did the last two; however I was happy as Lyndon won! It was down to finding the last egg to determine the winner! My dad truly has amazing hiding abilities!!! Beside getting a family photo I thought it would also be great to snap our four of twelve photo for this month! Though I end up looking back on Easter picture wishing I was more tan and had a little more color. Maybe next year we go somewhere I can get some sun on my face! Anyway…I love any time I get to hang out with my family and this weekend was no different.

I hope you are snapping your family photo too each month; if not join me now!

Easter Reading, DIY projects, and a Bunny Cake

We are celebrating Easter this weekend with my family. My family is huge on traditions!! And I have grown to love traditions! First, I love celebrating Easter with my church family! It is one holiday that we stay local and I love celebrating the work of Christ on the cross! You can find reading preparing for Easter celebration here. Other traditions for Easter day will again include grilled lamb for dinner, an Easter egg hunt, and of course bunny cake!  Enjoy!!!

Our Bunny Cake is actual Ina Garten’s Flag Cake recipe.

I made it earlier this week and froze it as I am away shooting in VA today. It freezes well.

So how do I make it into a bunny cake. Two circles.

One for the face and the other circle divided into two ears (outside of circle edges cut into bunny shape ears) and the middle part is his bow tie.

My DIY project for this week was to plant my pansies.

As a child I remember reading The Velvetten Rabbit. I ordered it for Myla this year and can not wait to read it to her.

YoYo.com is a great place to order!

And the rest of the ideas that I share came from Pinterest!!!

How cute are these DIY bunnies!! You can find it here.

If I had more time I might have attempted this, though I think it would be more wishful thinking!

Next would be natural dye for Easter eggs! Check out this site for suggestions.

I have never tried this but would prefer natural!

We hide real eggs here in our home. One year one egg was hidden inside the bunny cake!

The hunt is for us children that are now adults! It is an all out competition and INTENSE!!

I will say that I have won the last two years! We will see who wins this year!

ENJOY!!!

Oh my gosh that cake is ADORABLE! I love it!

I planted our pansies yesterday! I love pansy faces. I’ve also enjoyed Noel Piper’s Lenten Light readings in the past. This year we’re doing Ann Voskamp’s passion tree for the kids and I’m reading “Reliving the Passion.”
